My curvilinear path into the future Chapter 1
Well, here I want to start writing about the things happening to me and the things I’d like to happen. Actually, the whole point of this is for me to improve my writing skills, but also to tell you about the current state of my life (if only it was that important) so you may (or may not — it’s up to you) learn from my mistakes and close this text knowing a little bit more. Here we go.
That’s me just a few days before my first semester of the undergraduate studies in Physics started: full of energy, happy, flying high and far from the earth (physically and, well, mentally).
But then the whole chaos of the undergrad’s life started: a bunch of things I have never done before had to be done all in one time.
Although when I moved to Aachen for studies, I’ve already been living in Germany for some time, it was still pretty hard to arrange everything the best way. I started looking for accommodation in the early summer, but the fact, that I had one when I came in the fall was not self-evident and it took a lot of time to get accepted, sign the contract and then register in the city service. On top of that was the uni-related stuff like getting enrolled, taking the classes I wanted and, in most cases, needed to, setting up my schedule and so on.
Having all the formal things done you begin to think about a very important question: “so what do I do now?”. And to be honest, this point is a good place to start doing something real. What I mean is all the time before I have just been arranging the whole stuff: applying to the university, looking for a room, registering in the city, etc. But now I was in. I was at the starting point of this long path with no clear finish line. And this is where the most problem start.
You come to your first class and realize that you don’t know anybody. The prof starts the first lecture and this strange unknown feeling of having chosen the wrong major comes into your mind. You come home, do your assignments and find yourself watch another dozen videos on YouTube just to kill some time before the next day with the next classes comes. And, if you had some more expectations from your student life than partying after noting all the lectures word by word, you would probably notice that something goes wrong for you. You want more.
Well, I’d say that’s the start from me. Anyway, I wanted to write this just to try something out, to look at whether I could make something like a small blog or story. Because having a diary is not interesting anymore and on the internet there is always a chance of getting feedback on my writing, comments on my thoughts and maybe some more random answers from absolutely strange people. Let’s just start it.
Thanks for reading (even if you never really did)!
